Sponsored ‘Seek and Find’ forms and any money raised

We still have a number of children who haven’t returned their completed seek and find sheets and any sponsor forms/money.

Could we kindly ask that these are retuned to the Nursery by the end of next week at the latest so that we can see what we have raised and plan activities for the busy term ahead.

Thank you

Our plans for next week….

For the last week of this term we will be having LOTS of Easter fun in Nursery! We will be participating in lots of different Easter craft activities, creating collage, decorating real eggs and artificial eggs, looking at an experiment with eggs with ‘Professor’ Bowie!!!! (aka Mrs Bowie), doing some Easter baking with Mrs Green and learning why we celebrate Easter. We will also round of the week with a fun Easter Egg hunt on Friday which is sure to get the children very excited as we break up for the Easter holiday! OJ Sports will be with us on Monday to round off their 4 week block of super physical activities and we hear that some of the children will be trying unihoc for the very first time!!!! sounds like fun! AND we will be starting planting as we get our garden ready for Spring……

Any unwanted preschool clothing?

Do you have any clothing that your child may have outgrown that we can use as ‘spare’ clothing for children to borrow from Nursery should they have a ‘toileting’ accident or get particularly dirty or wet during their play in Nursery? If you do, we would be very grateful for any donations of this. In particular we need boys and girls t shirts, trousers and warm tops in ages 3/5 years, thank you.

Please remember coats and ‘outdoor’ shoes…..

Many parents will have noticed over the last few weeks that the children have been spending lots of time outside as we continue to build on the children’s learning and incorporate as many outdoor activities as we can into this.

The weather is gradually beginning to improve (hopefully!) but it can still be quite cold AND damp! Could we please request that ALL children come to Nursery equipped with appropriate clothing and footwear to engage in outdoor play in all weathers. Several children have been coming to Nursery without  jackets and although the weather may be dry when setting out from home it can often change very rapidly .

Thank you for your help with this.

Some very exciting news!!!

The Nursery Team this week have been busy organising our Summer Trip and we are delighted to tell you that we are returning to the Forest School at Abriachan!!!!! This will take place on June 12th and we will be looking for several willing parent volunteers to join us! If you can help and would like to come along (you will have great fun, we promise!!!) please let a member of the nursery team know. We had a super time when we went on our ‘Gruffalo’ adventure to Abriachan last November. Our theme for this visit will be mini beasts so we will be having a great time in the forest searching for bugs with our bug nets then getting into the water to do some pond dipping!!!!!! Hopefully we will have some beautiful warm weather and we can have a picnic together and play in the park too! We can’t wait!!!!

Weekly roundup……

This week in Nursery we continued with our ‘People who help us’ theme, revisiting our very exciting visits from the previous week to see what we could remember! Many of the children talked about the Fire Service visit, displaying lots of great learning!!! They also created some super and exceptionally detailed artwork to accompany their stories. We had another visitor this week, Marion, our Oral Health Co-Ordinator who spoke to us about how Dentists help us, we looked at the uniform that a dentist wears and some of the equipment he/she uses then Marion saw how well we clean our teeth in Nursery, she was REALLY impressed!!!! Our main curricular focus this week was numeracy as we explored numbers through varied activities and we had lots of practice forming the numbers 1 to 10 independently. We enjoyed having so many parents/carers join us for Open morning/afternoon on Wednesday and sharing our learning with everyone, the children were really busy preparing some super work over the last few weeks to add to our new displays which we hope you enjoyed looking at. To end the week both groups participated in Sport Relief’s ‘Move a mile’ and did fantastically well, we were really amazed at how quickly most children were able to complete 10 full laps of the school grounds!!!! obviously so much fitter than the Nursery staff!!!!!

Quick reminder – Numeracy Workshop

This will take place on Wednesday 26th March between 9 and 10am with Miss Dunbar in the school hall. All parents of children attending Nursery right through to P7 are invited to come along to look at the ways in which numeracy in taught in the school and to pick up some really useful tips on how you can support your child’s learning in this area at home.

If you already have a child who attends our Nursery in their ‘pre preschool year’ and they are due to enjoy another year’s nursery education with us starting in August 2014 you will need to enrol them again this coming week!

Please click on the Nursery Enrolment page on our Nursery Blog to get all the information and access to the enrolment forms that you need to do this, thank you.

Thank you to all parents/carers who joined us in Nursery for our open morning/afternoon today, it was fantastic to see this so well attended!

We hope you all enjoyed your visit and sharing your child’s learning with them.

We appreciate that it is sometimes difficult to attend such events due to other childcare issues/work commitments etc so if you didn’t manage to join us today and would like to come in at another time please let a member of the nursery team know and we will be very happy to arrange this for you.
