Learning Records

Mrs Green has very much enjoyed meeting with parents over the last week to discuss your chilld’s progress in Nursery. Could we please ask that any Learning Records which were taken home to share with other family members following these meetings, are returned by the end of next week at the very latest so that we can add more evidence of your child’s learning. Thank you.

Spreading some Christmas cheer within our community…..

On Wednesday 11th December and Thursday 12th December the nursery children will be doing something special within our local community. With the help of Dr Donald from Crown Church we have planned to go and visit 2 local care homes and sing some songs for the residents, present them with some small gifts that the children will make in Nursery and generally spread a little Christmas cheer!!

The morning group will visit Kingsmills Nursing Home on on Thursday 12th December  and the afternoon group will visit Aiden House Care Home on Wednesday 11th December. Nursery sessions will begin and cease at the usual times on these days. We would love for parents and carers to join us if you can, please let us know as soon as possible if you wish to come along, thank you.

Stay and play sessions

We would like to invite parents/carer to come into nursery to stay and play with their children between now and Christmas and we have displayed a list of available dates in the Nursery cloakroom. If you would like to come in and spend some time with us please add your name to this as soon as possible, we are restricting the number of parents in at any one time to 2 due for each date listed as we are quite restricted for space and with all the busy activities we have planned for Christmas we want you to be able to move around easily!!! We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Secret santa donations wanted! (Sshhhh!!!!)

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has already brought in donations for our Secret Santa room for this year’s Christmas Fayre. If you haven’t managed to bring anything in yet then we’re still looking for any unused or unwanted items you can find at home: chocolates, toiletries, candles, new mugs, accessories are just a few gift ideas – don’t forget about male present ideas too.
In addition to this, we’re also looking for donations of second-hand books and toys and items for the tombola and bottle stall. Thank you in advance for your generosity and helping make the Fayre a success!

Our Special Visitor…

On Monday, Shona Robison, the Minister for Commonwealth Wealth Games and Sport is coming to Crown and we’re all very excited about her visit! She’s heard about all the amazing work that’s been done in the past and what we’re planning for the future and she’s keen to find out more! With her, will be Holly Cram (Hockey International Player) who will be doing a training session with our Crown Hockey Team :)

And to top it all…we’re receiving the first ever Game on Scotland plaque for using the Commonwealth Games to inspire our learning!

So please make sure your children come to school on Monday looking their very best as you never know they might be on TV!

Last orders for Christmas tea towels!

The children have all completed a portrait of themselves and some very ‘special’ ones of the staff have been selected to go on our Christmas tea towel. The order for these will be getting sent off on Tuesday evening so we will need any last minute orders by then at the very latest. They would make super Christmas presents for family members so please consider buying 1 or several!!! if you haven’t already done so. Thank you.

Parent meetings

Just a reminder that Nursery parent meetings will take place this week with Mrs Green. As these meetings are only of 10 minutes duration please have a think beforehand if there are any specific concerns you wish to discuss regarding your child so that these may be addressed at the start of the meeting. If you feel that you require a further appointment to discuss your child this can be arranged so please let us know. We hope you will enjoy looking at your child’s Learning Record and seeing some of the things they get up to in Nursery! We look forward to seeing you!

Weekly roundup….

This week in Nursery we have extended our look at safety by exploring road safety with Ziggy! The children have been listening to some great road safety stories, watching some clips on keeping safe near traffic, while in cars and  while on bicycles. Many of the children also played some super games on the smart board and designed their own bicycle helmets. For our numeracy focus we explored measure, measuring different resources within our Nursery and practised putting different objects in size order through fun activities. We were also very busy in our garden, helping to care for it as we approach Winter.

Fundraising tea towels

Please take a minute when you are in the children’s cloakroom to have a look at the sample tea towel which is hanging up. This week, the nursery children at Crown will all be drawing a self portrait to go on our very own tea towel which will also have the children’s names beneath their portrait’s and the Crown School logo. These will be produced in time for Christmas and we have requested that any orders placed for these arrive before Friday 13th December. The children will all also draw portraits of the Nursery staff (we cannot wait to see these!!!!) and each member of the Nursery team will pick their favourite to go on the tea towel.

If you wish to order some Christmas tea towels, which will be priced at £5 each, please add your name, your child’s name, and the quantity you wish to order to the list in the cloakroom. We will need all orders in this week to ensure that we have them in time for Christmas.

Arrival of Winter?

With the forecast for wintry weather heading our way next week could you please ensure that your child has warm clothing including a hat, scarf, gloves, warm jacket and appropriate footwear. We are planning lots of outdoor learning over the next 2 weeks and need to ensure that the children stay warm. Thank you.
